I only watched the first half and they were walking through our midfield and straight through our defence. A better team would have scored more. It's a real worry.

Gotta sort that defence out and close down the opposition more without leaving pockets of space time and time again.

We look very dangerous on the counterattack though which is good to see.

Good comment from Pellegrini that Antonio’s introduction in the second half was decisive.

Much better performance in the second half but they could have scored more as could have Brighton; we need to tighten up defensively or we’re fucked

For me, that was a great decision. Give Yarma an hour to get match fitness and then unleash a fresh Antonio against a tiring opposition.

It worked too!

Forward to the past!

In the season we beat Leeds 7-0, we also lost 6-2 to Southampton.

In the season we beat Sunderland 8-0, we went out of the FA Cup 3-0 against Mansfield.

Prefer that to Allardyce style damage limitation at 1-0 down.

Yarmalenko is a, very good player, he got 60 minutes under his belt and we won, win win.

Thank goodness for the mute button. Please please stop that dreadful women from commentary ever ever again.

You can imagine what Wright in the studio thinks and says.

Watched the game, 2 things..

1) If Hughes hadn’t of done a Dowie and missed a sitter at 1-1 we’ Probably only have got a point at best.

2) How does Yarmolenko start over Antonio? I know he’s a Pellegrini signing but still?

If we played 3-5-2 we wouldn’t be playing one up top.
Unfortunately the manager is not one for experimenting, maybe that’s a good thing? he believes 100% his way is the only way so no chance of confusing the players.
No matter how fragile we look at the back you gotta admire he sticks to his belief.

Balbuena is clearly off the pace having played in summer and come back to preseason late (I bloody hope it’s this and last season wasn’t a one off!)

Hopefully he can return to his best over the next couple of weeks, he and Diop looked a formidable partnership for large parts of last season.

There is points to be had from the next 5 fixtures, Bournemouth away looks the toughest personally. Hopefully the work rate and application continues to go up week on week, if it does we have the quality to win a lot of those fixtures.
